Accommodation in Malá Morávka in the Jeseníky Mountains

Discover our two separate apartments in a mountain farmhouse in the village of Malá Morávka in the Jeseníky Mountains. The apartments offer every comfort for families and groups of friends. The new cottage at the end of the property, by the forest, is designed for groups of up to 8 people. In every season, the large garden is at the heart of your stay, with plenty to do for families with small children as well as for adults looking for peace in the mountains. Picture a place surrounded by tall spruce trees, where a clear babbling brook runs along the garden and you can hear the trees and the water from every corner. We believe you will find this enchanting place as wonderful as we do. MONTANUS is not just accommodation. It is a place you will want to come back to for peace and nature.

MONTANUS, a place with a story

It was easy to name this place, as it is perfectly captured by the Latin word montanus, meaning "mountaineer" or "of the mountains". The farmhouse stands below the forest in the upper part of Malá Morávka, where generations of people lived lives shaped by the harsh conditions of the Jeseníky Mountains. The house and the whole place have a long history going back to 1790, as records in the Provincial Archive in Opava show. At that time a wooden house with a cow stable and a barn stood here. The brick house with its current floor plan was built in 1905. People farmed here and made their living from working in the surrounding forests. In 1945 the original German population of the region known as the Sudetes was expelled and the property passed to the state. The farmhouse was then used by various trade unions for holidays, but with no clear owner the house and its surroundings fell into disrepair until 2012, when it was sold to the current owners. The extensive renovation in 2013 aimed to preserve the original atmosphere of a mountain farmhouse on the ground floor (Priessnitz apartment) while adding 21st-century comfort. A completely new Kneipp apartment was built in the former attic on the first floor.

Where do the names Priessnitz and Kneipp come from?

The apartments are named after two famous men who used the healing power of water. Vincenz Priessnitz (1799–1851) made the Jeseníky Mountains famous; the spa town of Jeseník now stands where he worked. Sebastian Kneipp (1821–1897) applied a similar philosophy in the Alpine countries. Inspired by them, we built a small hydrotherapy area, the "Natural Spa", right by the stream on our property.
